By car or coach:

The Yorkshire Arboretum is located 15 miles north east of York and is easily accessible from the A64 which connects Leeds, York and the Yorkshire coast. Just follow the brown tourist signs to Castle Howard. The arboretum is located off the obelisk roundabout, opposite the main entrance to Castle Howard.

This standard route includes passing through narrow gateways 2.6m (8' 6") wide x 3.43m (11' 3") high. Alternative routes for coaches, high and wide vehicles are:

From the A64 eastbound: Take the B1248 exit to Malton. After 1.2 miles, just before the Talbot Hotel on your right, take a sharp left into Castle Howard Road, signed Castle Howard and Coneysthorpe.

From the A64 westbound: Take the B1257 (Old Malton Road) into Malton town centre. At the traffic lights go straight across into Yorkersgate. Immediately after passing the Talbot Hotel on the left, turn right into Castle Howard Road, signed Castle Howard and Coneysthorpe.

By public transport:

Bus services to the Yorkshire Arboretum are operated by Transdev York.  Please check their website for timetable information. It is a short walk from the Castle Howard bus stop to the Yorkshire Arboretum.
