Aurora over Howardian Hills - taken by Chris Lowther.

Did you know that light pollution means that over 80% of people in the UK can no longer see the Milky Way? But we can and lots of other wonders too because of low light pollution.  And we want to keep it that way.

Besides explaining the finer points of dark sky friendly lighting, we'll also take you on a magical journey through the cosmos using a special planetarium programme.  If the sky is clear we'll break out the big telescopes to spy heavenly treasures like the planet Saturn and distant galaxies, plus we'll home in on the Milky Way, which is perfect for viewing this time of the year.

The event is suitable for adults and children over six years old.  Dress warmly and bring binoculars if you have them, however we'll also have some you can use.
