Background to the Job Role

 The Yorkshire Arboretum has been awarded a development phase grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable the preparation of a second round bid for a grant to fund our development on accessibility and interpretation. The project, entitled ’If Trees Could Talk’ is aimed at making the arboretum more accessible to the public, providing high quality interpretation and enhancing our ability to engage with, educate and provide interesting and exciting activities to a wider range of visitors. Our objective is to share more widely the diverse heritage of our collection, the historical landscape and its natural biodiversity, and the work we do to develop it with a growing audience of all ages.

The role of Workshop Co-ordinator has become available to co-ordinate a series of test workshops, events and activities to evaluate their effectiveness in meeting the aims and objectives of the “If Trees Could Talk” HLF project.

Examples of events, activities and workshops Include:

 ·         Site history and heritage exhibition

·         Biodiversity surveys

·         Visitor trails

·         Plant and tree health workshops

·         Children’s events

·         Outreach public engagement.
